Some of our favourite books to read are multicultural books. We love books set in different countries and with diverse characters. I think it’s because we come from a different culture, too, and we often get very nostalgic about the traditions and foods of our home country. That’s why it makes us all warm and fuzzy inside to read about the many beautiful traditions and customs of children in other countries. I also feel strongly that if we all learn and discover the beautiful aspects of the varied cultures worldwide, we will respect and admire each other more. And that is a good recipe for peace!

Below, you will find a list of books from many countries. I haven’t covered all countries yet, but I will keep adding them to the list as we continue to find and read books from various countries.

We borrow most of our books from the library and buy ones that are not available. The best way to find these books in the library is to use your county library’s website and put them on hold. That way, you will save time and find just what you need! We also love VOX Books and Wonder Books in our house, and whenever there is a VOX or Wonder Book version of a book, we keep that one on hold.

While this is primarily a list of picture books, I have also included some chapter books and graphic novel lists to suit the interests of all readers.

When I found books in the library with Indian characters, my heart fluttered with joy; I hope you find something here that makes your heart leap with joy, too!
